My Blog

All quotes, thoughts and essays posted on this blog are not any works of mine, I thought these should be seen by as many people as possible. These works come from a multitude of people on a wide variety of different subjects. Knowledge should be passed to everyone. Enjoy!

The Wisdom:

1. "A friend recently said to me you may want to dig your own grave and stand in it waiting for the end but that does not mean that I will stand here and watch you do it."

2. "The greatest danger of human genetic engineering is not about the enhanced abilities that people will gain, the danger lies in the assumption that these enhancements will somehow make certain people intrinsically superior to others on the most fundamental level conceivable. Once the assumption that certain people are intrinsically more advanced than others becomes accepted then you will end up with megalomaniacs on one end of the spectrum and dangerously frightened people at the other. Human genetic engineering programs no matter how well intentioned invariably become just another way of turning people against people. ("us" vs. "them") When you start talking about DNA, you are provoking a very powerful and emotional response, one that hits people at the very core of their identities no matter how civilized they might otherwise be, even in the enlightened world of the twenty first century. Human genetic engineering would be a terrible mistake because what truly matters can not be found in the genes. Superior strength and superior intelligence are very useful traits but in the end they do not necessarily make superior people. Character, compassion and courage, these are learned qualities that are not encoded on any chromosome but ultimately they are what will truly advance the human race. When people start to think they are more then human or start to think they are better then anyone else, it only becomes a matter of time before their arrogance and lack of empathy completely eat away at their humanity and make these people into monsters. What makes people special does not come out of a test tube. In any event, we must never allow any unreasoning fear to scare mankind away from it's own humanity."

3. "That's the thing about a life, the rain is going fall on us all, our hearts are going to break sometimes, but there is no way around it so you just have to go through it. Life is full of mountains, your just going to have to learn to climb."

4. "I am nothing special; of this I am sure. I am a simple person with simple thoughts and I have led a simple life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I have loved others with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough."

5. "Guys, think about this. Where would you be without your girlfriend? Have you ever tried sharing feelings with your buddies? They just don't get it, and they would laugh at you anyway. Be thankful that you have someone that you can be vulnerable with. Having a woman in your life is the ultimate gift. Your bodies fit together because your souls fit together and you're meant to be together. Say thank you to your girlfriend. Tell her how grateful you are that she is in your life."

6. "I guess you could say I am more about faith then religion itself. Religion is too often the pretext for violence, hatred, intolerance among different faiths and competitive piety within faiths. But the real problem is not with faith or not even difference in faith, within the churches or other types of houses of worship. The real problem is the overacheivers in these institutions. When these types of people or groups of people feel the need to prove themselves more worthy than their neighbors, that is when the trouble starts. When one is not striving to be better then someone else, then one is free to start bettering themselves."

7. "It is said that love cannot be bought but I guarantee that for the right price, it can definitely be rented by the half hour."

8. "Love is not complicated. What makes things complicated is what we can end up doing in it's name and exactly how much are we willing to ignore and overlook when we are in love with someone."

9. "Everything that you will have gained in your lifetime will eventually rot and fall apart until all that will be left of you is what was in your heart."

10. "Fear will always be a player in your life but you get to decide how much. You can spend your whole life imagining the ghosts of your past or worrying about your pathway to the future but all there will ever be is what is happening here and now. The decisions that each of us make in the here and now are either based in love or fear but yet so many of us choose our pathway out of fear disguised as practicality. You will only ever have two real choices; love or fear. Choose love."

11. "Do not ever let fear, anger or hate turn you against your own playful heart."

12. "Life has taught me that you cannot control someone's loyalty. No matter how good you are to them, does not mean they will treat you the same. No matter how much they mean to you, does not mean that they will value you the same. Sometimes the people that you love the most, turn out to be the people you can trust the least."

13. "You know my name, not my story. You have heard about what I have done, not what I have been through."

14. "It really hurts when you love someone and they never love you back . But that is not the real pain, the real pain is when you don't get the chance or you are not able to muster the courage to express your love."

15. "The saddest thing in life is when you meet someone so special and you believe they could be with you but the reality is that the person was never meant for you and you end up having to forget them completely"

16. "A best friend is one with whom you could spend a lot of time with and open your heart and they would be there for you when you need them the most."

17. "A reality of life is that we never realize the importance of things we have until we lose those things forever, we could have happiness around us always but we would never find it until it becomes someone else's."

18. "You could like a person as soon as you see them and it could take just a few seconds to love them, but to forget them it could cost your entire life."

19. "Only a smile is more than enough to make your day brighter, all other riches and good looks will eventually fade away."

20. "You only have this one life, so live it the way you want, never let someone else live your life. Work hard to achieve your dream and live your life."

21. "Always try to understand other people's problems, if it hurts you then it would hurt them too."

22. "Do you know who are the happiest of all the people? It's those who are happy with what they have and they never get jealous of what other people have."

23. "When you die, you will be missed and some may cry for losing you, but you must die with a smile in your face, for that to happen, you must love your life and you must cherish the happy moments."

24. "Your value does not decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth."

25. "You are never alone and there is never any trouble that is beyond help."

26. "From the moment that we become able to make our own choices, our innocence becomes lost."

27. "Once we lose the capacity to forgive ourselves, is true redemption still possible?"

28. "The whole world is a stage and the only person who can play you IS YOU. Never compromise who you are or what you are about for anyone."

28. "When someone makes themself too accessible, too willing to jump into a relationship, we question them. We wonder how anyone could like us this much this soon. We immediately devalue those people. But when we're crazy about someone and show it, we want that person to reciprocate. Can't we just be REAL with each other? Isn't that what it's all about?"

29. "We want people to be real, authentic, and emotionally available, yet we cringe and we flee when they are."

30. "You start out life with a clean slate. Then you begin to make your mark. You face decisions, make choices. You keep moving forward. But sooner or later there comes a time where you look back over where you have been...and wonder who you really are."

31. "Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted."

32. "A heart is a fragile thing. That's why we protect them so vigorously, give them away so rarely, and why it means so much when we do. Some hearts are more fragile than others. Purer, somehow. Like crystal in a world of glass, even the way they shatter is beautiful."

33. "Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. What you desire can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it can be yours."

34. "People come into our life disguised as angels, and sometimes angels come into our life disguised as people. It is possible to see God anywhere. All it takes are open eyes and ears and the willingness to see miracles. They are everywhere. God is as available as we are. Having friends that inspire us to rise to higher and greater levels is an awesome gift. Surround yourself with people that inspire you to do better and inspire your friends as well. It is a profound truth that the people we spend time with shape the path that we travel."

35. "Falling in love may one of the greatest feelings ever. There is an actual chemical process that happens to a person who is falling in love. All of the senses have a greater intensity. Colors seem brighter, sounds more resonant and smells more powerful when you are in love. When you are with your lover there is no greater feeling in the world, and when you're not you spend all your time thinking of each other. Falling in love is truly an awesome feeling."

36. "Depression has a different quality than the normal range of sadness that you may feel throughout the day. When you are depressed you do not feel like being with anybody. You either sleep way more than usual or you can hardly sleep at all. Similarly, your appetite is either nonexistent or increases dramatically. Your energy level goes way down and you have a feeling of hopelessness about life. As difficult as it may be it is important to get out of the house and get some help. You are not alone."

37. "When a family member is dying, the whole family is plunged into despair. It is heartbreaking to see a once active relative lying in a hospital bed hooked up to machines. It is hard to imagine that this is the same individual who was previously so active and full of life. It may feel strange and uncomfortable to spend time with a loved one when they are dying. Most of us feel uncomfortable in the hospital filled with the smells of sickness and death. However, there may be an opportunity to share a moment that you treasure for the rest of your life."

38. "Possibly the four saddest words that you might hear in your life: What might have been."

39. "Let me tell you something about women. 50% of women would have us believe that they are the victims; That we break their hearts for sport. That is crap. They say they want romance, they say they want true love, but all they want is a check list. Is he perfect? Is he handsome? Does he have money? For those of you men who fit the criteria, don't kid yourselves. Because if they're not sleeping with you, they're sleeping with a carefully calculated set of venal choices. Money over substance, looks over soul, polish over principles. No gesture, no matter how real or romantic will ever compensate for a really impressive list of credentials. A woman in heat will always choose a guy who she thinks has the better looking résumé."

40. "If we teach our children by example, then we only have ourselves to blame for whom they become."

41. "It is said that our lives are measured by what we leave behind. But for people everywhere, the most valuable legacy of all is love."

42. "Do our memories define our identity? If we are merely the sum of our experiences, what do we become if those experiences are lost?"

43. "All our lives we search for someone to love, someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope all the while wondering if somewhere and somehow there is someone searching for us"

44. "At this moment there are over 6 billion people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just not facing the truth. Some are evil people, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world, six billion souls. And sometimes all you need is one."

45. "The bad guys lie to get in your bed and the good guys lie to get in your heart."

46. "I'm not going anywhere. This is it for me. You're it for me. And I can't pretend to feel any less than I do. I am sorry but I just can't."

47. "The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."

48. "I guess all we can do is live our lives with as much kindness and decency as possible, and try not to dwell on God standing over us with a giant shovel."

49. "You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story."

50. "Isn't it better to cling to the dream of what could have been, than to ruin things with reality."

51. "The way the world is, how seldom it is that you meet that one person who, just gets you. It's so rare."

52. "What you feel only matters to you. It's what you do that matters to the people you love. That's what matters. That's the only thing that counts."

53. "I like to believe we write our own stories and each time we think we know the end, we don't. Perhaps luck exists somewhere between the world of planning, of chance and in the peace that comes from knowing that you just can't know it all. Life is funny that way... once you let go of the wheel, you might end up right where you belong."

54. "Bad things will happen in your life and that you just can't stop...but that doesn't mean you should just shut out the world. There is a purpose for the good and the bad."

66. "Sometimes, the best way to hide the truth is to keep it in plain sight."

67. "Without darkness there would be no light. Without error, no sure path to the truth. In a world where absolutes reign, what may be most important is finding the balance."

68. "Who among us does not think he knows evil when he sees it? But are such distinctions really so black and white or is morality simply a matter of perspective?"

69. "Powerful ideas do not die with those who gave them birth, so long as the seeds of those ideas are planted in their followers."

70. "Physical scars are evidence of a wound long since healed. But what about the wounds we can't see? What is left behind when there is trauma to the soul?"

71. "The suffering we conceal and the sorrow we hide may only be fully understood by those who share a common pain."

74. "Our choices define us and sometimes doom us."

75. "For some, the future is just nothing but old age, illness, loneliness and pain."

76. "The act of a person taking their own life is not something that should be done without a lot of thought. People should not take their own lives without deep and thoughtful reflection over a considerable period of time. It is believed strongly, that the right to do so is one of the most fundamental rights anyone in a free society should have."

77. "If you could make God bleed, people would cease to believe in him. There will be blood in the water and the sharks will come."

78. "It is hard when you have to say goodbye and it gets harder every time."

79. "The cure for spirit is fear."

80. "In magic - and in life - there is only the present moment, the now. You can't measure time the way you measure the distance between two points. 'Time' doesn't pass. We human beings have enormous difficulty in focusing on the present; we're always thinking about what we did, about how we could have done it better, about the consequences of our actions, and about why we didn't act as we should have. Or else we think about the future, about what we're going to do tomorrow, what precautions we should take, what dangers await us around the next corner, how to avoid what we don't want and how to get what we have always dreamed of."

81. "If you really love someone, you accept their past, who they are right now, and who they might become in the future."

87. "It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens but it is never gone."

88. "Time is one of the most powerful forces in existence. Nothing is immune to time. Time can change all things just by it's patience. Time has the abundance of the luxury of being able to wait. Everything can be laid waste to by the touch of time. Forever isn't always forever. Being that time has the power to change so much, it just makes me question our words, their power, their truth and their longevity. What each of us are or what we may mean at any given time is not immune to the change time brings and sometimes it is even our feelings that change because time makes it so. Time passes, so anything and everything can change. This is the other certainty of existence besides death and taxes."

95. "Life has a way of going in circles. Ideally, it would be a straight path forward, we'd always know where we were going, we'd always be able to move on and leave everything else behind. There would be nothing but the present and the future. Instead, we always find ourselves where we started. When we try to move ahead, we end up taking a step back. We carry everything with us, the weight exhausting us until we want to collapse and give up.We forget things we try to remember. We remember things we'd rather forget. The most frightening thing about memory is that it leaves no choice. It has mastered an incomprehensible art of forgetting. It erases, it smudges, it fills in blank spaces with details that don't exist. But however we remember it or choose to remember it, the past is the foundation that holds our lives in place. Without its support, we'd have nothing for guidance. We spend so much time focused on what lies ahead, when what has fallen behind is just as important. What defines us isn't where we're going, but where we've been. Although there are places and people we will never see again, and although we move on and let them go, they remain a part of who we are. There are things that will never change, things we will carry along with us always. But as we venture into the murky future, we must find our strength by learning to leave things behind."

101. "When you love someone, say it! Say it loud and say it right away, or the moment just passes you by. And once that moment has passed, it will be gone."

102. When I say, I love you it is not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do and how you try. I have seen your kindness and your strength. I have seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You are one hell of a woman."

103. "You don't get to choose, you just fall in love. And you get this person who is all wrong and all right at the same time. And you know that you love them so much except sometimes they just drive you completely insane and no one can explain it and the reason it is so confusing is because it is love. But if love didn't have any challenges, what would be the point?"

While this can be very disheartening, please do not ever believe that it was a waste of time. The one you called ugly, spends hours trying to make themselves look good hoping that people will like them. The one you just tripped, is abused enough at home. A 15 year old girl holds her 2 year old son, people call her a slut. No one knows she was raped at 13. You make fun of someone for being fat, but you don't know that person has a serious medical condition that causes their weight.
